The most important gear for your spring break packing list
It’s almost here—one of the most exciting, invigorating and rejuvenating weeks of the year, beloved by sun-lovers of all ages. It’s the highly anticipated week that kicks off the warm season with a bang puts the long winter behind us at last. Yep, spring break is almost upon us, and not a moment too soon. We’re sure you’ve already got some travel plans in the works, but we’re here to help you fine tune your spring break packing list and highlight some important items.
The sun is back, and spring break is prime time to hit the beach, socialize and get active, so we’ve listed some items to get you away from your screens and into the spring sunshine!
Tumblers: A good tumbler is worth its weight in gold! They’re perfect for just about any beach (or pool, boat, etc.) beverage you can think of. One of our favorite all-around tumblers is the YETI Rambler. It’s big (20 oz), tough, and amazingly well-insulated. For classy outings, we suggest the Brumate Wine Glass Tumbler— it looks great, it’s portable, and it’s specifically designed to keep your rose (or wine of choice) perfectly chilled.
Portable grill: What’s more fun than grilling up some burgers beachside after a long day of romping in the waves? It’s a bit of extra effort to get these guys to your post-up spot, but being able to enjoy sunset and dinner on the beach is a worthwhile cause. We like the CharBroil Grill2Go as an affordable option (just $156.99), with an easy gas ignition and durable frame. We also recommend the Cuisinart Petit Gourmet, retailing at a similar price point but with a convenient grill stand included. Remember to make sure you check local beach regulations to ensure you’re in a grill-friendly area, and happy grilling!
Beach chairs: For ultimate relaxation and taking-in-the-scenery enjoyment, you’ll definitely want to haul along some comfortable chairs. It’s totally up to you what style you want to go with, but we definitely suggest something high enough to keep your bum above the water as the waves come in. Think about what features you can’t do without—cupholders? head rests? attached canopies?—and get chair hunting. For ultimate comfort and epic beach naps, we like the Timber Ridge Oversized XL Padded Zero Gravity Chair. We also suggest the Coleman Utopia Breeze Beach Sling Chair or the Quik Shade Adjustable Canopy Folding Chair.
Beach-proof phone pouch: As much as you’ll want to get away from your phones in favor of beach activities, you’ve still gotta keep them safe and handy for connecting with your crew. We all know the stress of sand and salt water in proximity to our devices, so we highly suggest keeping your goods safely tucked away in a beach-proof pouch. The AquaVault 100% Waterproof Floating Case is an excellent choice, with reliable sealing and float action, and a neck strap included. The classic CaliCase design is great as well. Floating cases will allow you to put your phone fears behind you and enjoy your adventures!
Floating shades: Speaking of keeping your essential items dry and afloat, make sure you’ve got a pair of shades that you can trust to survive the entire vacation. The sun is back, and you’ll want to make sure your pair is polarized to keep your retinas happy and healthy. Also important is keeping your shades above the waves during your activities, whether your boating, playing beach frisbee, or just hanging at the pool. Rheos has got you covered—check out our awesome array of floating sunglasses as you get packing. They’re durable and reliable, and we’ve got a range of styles to fit your fancy.
Beach umbrella: Last but not least, here’s another beach essential that might add a few pounds to your haul but is definitely worth the effort. We know you love the sun, but everyone needs a minute or two (or thirty) to cool down and relax during peak hours. Beach umbrellas have evolved quite a bit since the old days, and there are a lot of options guaranteed to stay sand-bound despite the elements. We really like the Extreme Shade Total Sun Blocker (more of a “shelter” than an umbrella, but still portable and comes with an anchor!) or the Super-Brella Maximum Protection Portable Canopy. Keep your gear safe and your skin happy!
It’s time to get out and enjoy the lengthening days of the coming summer! Spring break is a great way to celebrate the end of the cold weather season and reconnect with the joys of sun, sand, and waves with your favorite people. Use our spring break packing list to get you going, throw in your favorite beach clothes and beach games, and get yourself ready for one of the best weeks of the year!
