The Best Fishing Sunglasses and How to Pick Them

January 16, 2019

What are the most important things to look for when shopping for the best fishing sunglasses? There are of course unique circumstances for certain types of fishing but generally speaking there are a key features you absolutely need.

One of the first and undoubtedly most important is 100% UV protection. Sun damage to eyes is a very real and life-long effect from too much exposure to the wrong rays. It is always a risk but is 2-4x more damaging when you're out on the water.

Second, is polarization. You may be wondering why are sunglasses polarized? The short answer is for increased visibility and glare reduction. Check out the link above for more details.

And last but not least of course floatable shades! No one wants to lose money out on the water. We've all been there for the inevitable **kerplunk!** as $200+ drops to the bottom of the lake, river or ocean. Don't be that guy (or girl).

We think the most effective way to find the best fishing sunglasses is to ask the best in fishing. Marty Zoffinger is at the top of his game and is in the sport for all of the right reasons. Years ago he began his adventure on YouTube chronicling the stories out at sea. Shortly after he bought a boat, fixed it up and began calling it home. It was around this time that we connected with Marty through a mutual friend and the rest is history. In this video he shares whey they are to this day among his favorite shades. Thank you for the love Marty and can't wait to see you out on the water!

Hi there everybody. My name is Marty Zoffinger.
If you like kayak fishing, and you like videos on YouTube then you probably know who I am. You also know that I like to share products that I use from time to time. And you might also remember that I’ve tried some rather fancy sunglasses in the past. The fancy sunglasses that I’m referring to were very heavy glass frame sunglasses. And whenever I look down they would fall off my face. If they fall in the water they ‘re gone. That’s it. It was kind of annoying constantly having to push them up my nose every time they would slide down.

It was pretty upsetting knowing I had spent a lot o money on those. These Rheos sunglasses they are about one-fifth of the cost of those sunglasses. They are scratch resistant. I always clean them with my shirt. And they still look like the day I got them.

And they’re super light. They stay on my face all day long I don’t even know they’re there. It’s hard to get across how light they are. But it’s really cool. Because you don’t feel them on your face. They’re not sliding down your nose all the time. I’ve been wearing them a lot. I’m really digging these shades. So give’em a looksy. Rheos Sunglasses. Floating, polarized and scratch resistant. Floating! Did I say floating? **Chuckles** Thanks for watching. Get out on the water and look around!
